Definition: 

Rather than having to seek out information, subscribe to sources that automatically deliver information to you.

 

Tools:

  • EventSeer: service that networks academics--allows users to build personal profiles and post their own events, notifies users of upcoming events that are significant to their interests (Free, web-based)
  • Google Alerts: users can get email alerts when news, blog entries, web pages, and/or videos appear matching search terms they have specified. (Free, web-based)
  • Google Reader: Google service that gathers user's favorite websites and stores them in one collection (Free, web-based) [Review]
